Story
Hi, I’m Matt and I’m the owner of Clementine & Co.
Our bar originally opened in 2023 as Twisted Lanes, with initial support from the duo behind Twisted Lemon, where I previously worked. From the beginning, the plan was always to use that as a starting point, get established, and then move away from the Twisted family to create a completely independent bar.
Once the bar was up and running, that transition was carried out in 2025 as intended. Clementine & Co is now entirely separate, with its own identity, direction, and team.

It’s our first bar, and a lot of what it is has come from learning as we go despite decades of hospitality experience. Long days, figuring things out in real time, and gradually shaping something that feels right for us.

Clementine & Co is very much a team effort. My partner runs a lot of behind the scenes, from social media and marketing to admin and design, and a lot of what you see and experience comes from that side of things. I also wouldn’t be able to keep the bar running without the team around me. Their hard work, creativity, and dedication are a huge part of what makes Clementine & Co what it is day to day.

The name itself comes from my surname, with the "& Co" representing the friends and family who’ve supported us along the way. From the beginning, we wanted the space to feel warm and familiar. The interior takes visual inspiration from a traditional orangery as a nod to the Clementine name, but the focus has always been on creating a bar that feels comfortable and easy to spend time in.

We also wanted to make cocktails that feel accessible without compromising on quality. Drinks that taste just as good as the more expensive versions, but without the price tag that usually comes with them. Brighton is expensive enough as it is.
​That same thinking applies to our non-alcoholic menu. We have friends who don’t drink, so it’s always been important to us that those options feel just as considered and enjoyable as anything else on the menu, not an afterthought.

As we’ve settled into things, we’re starting to find a bit more rhythm. It’s meant we can slowly begin renovating the space and putting more of ourselves into the menu, shaping both to better reflect what we want Clementine & Co to be.

We’re still hands on with everything, still learning, and still building the bar day by day.

What kind of bar is Clementine & Co?
We’re a cocktail bar in central Brighton focused on well made, approachable drinks.
The aim is quality and consistency without things feeling overly formal or complicated. Somewhere you can come for a good cocktail, whether that’s one drink or a full evening.
Are you part of Twisted Lemon or Twisted Lime?
No. Clementine & Co is completely independent.

Do you serve food?
We offer a small selection of light bites to accompany drinks, but we’re primarily a cocktail focused bar rather than a restaurant. Feel free to message us for some food recommendations in the area!
Is this venue 18+?
We operate as an 18+ only bar from 5pm onwards.
Are you wheelchair accessible?
Our ground floor is wheelchair accessible with a handful of low tables available. Please note we do not have a wheelchair accessible bathroom.
Do you offer private hire?
We don’t offer private hire on weekends, as the bar is at full capacity. If you’re planning something larger, feel free to get in touch and we’ll let you know what’s possible.
Do you allow hen or stag parties?
We don’t accommodate hen or stag parties.
Due to previous issues, we’ve had to put a blanket policy in place to ensure the experience remains comfortable for both guests and staff.
Do you offer happy hour?
Yes. We run a happy hour throughout the week, alongside a rotating cocktail of the week. Our cocktail of the week is voted for every Sunday on our Instagram @ClementineCoBTN
